Verse 1
Play all night and sleep all day.
Have no rent or bills to pay.
All you got to do is keep the strangers away.
It’s a dog’s life. I think that’s a Dog-gone shame.
Verse 2
I got a boss barking every single day.
For the money I make, it’s not worth my pay.
I just forgot her birthday and she turned me away.
But the dog forgot it too, so why does he get to stay?
The dog’s sleeping on her bed tonight, while I’m turned away.
Many thoughts are racing through my mind and this is what I say:
Chorus
It’s a dog’s life and everybody knows it.
It’s a dog’s life and everybody knows it..
It’s a dog’s life and everybody knows it..
I think that’s a Dog-gone shame.
Verse 3
He dumps on the carpet and pees on the floor.
It’s ok, he’s sorry, he won’t do it no more.
I leave the toilet seat up for a day.
I come home that evening, there’s all hell to pay.
